The trial moves to Icania, which the protagonist describes as a corrupt political theater full of killers. Three moments determine how the case looks before the confrontation with Florian.
Psychologist’s Notes: Damning Evidence
The prosecutor presents psychologist’s session notes that were leaked to the press. They show Kane repeatedly expressing intense hatred for Jose and making a threat to the effect of: “If I really wanted to kill him, I wouldn’t be held responsible.”
Kane argues that Jose had been harassing the protagonist, Ger, and that his threats were meant to protect the person he loves. Because he cannot give the court Ger’s real name, the explanation fails to convince everyone.
Bond Choice: The Courtroom Recess
During the recess, meet the detained Abel near the restroom and choose to jump into Abel’s arms and kiss him. This is the strongest relationship choice in the scene.
Abel admits how lonely prison has made him. Even being allowed ten calls a week does not replace hearing your voice or sleeping beside you. The exchange also reveals a crucial lead: Emily has a potentially devastating recording that may change the case later.
Witness Testimony: Who Is Lying?
May tries to defend both men. She frames their aggression as a justified reaction to Jose’s harassment and pushes back against the claim that they are naturally violent.
Harper, a third-year biomedical student, delivers the damaging testimony. She is 100% certain that Abel was not performing first aid, including the Heimlich maneuver, when he was found. That statement directly undermines Abel’s claim that he was only trying to save Jose.

When the trial stalls, the protagonist decides Florian is the figure controlling events from the shadows and leaves early for the café. Complete both actions below if you want leverage at the end of Chapter 15.

After the café closes, pick up one of the cutting knives and place it in your handbag. This utility knife is your only physical defense when Florian closes the distance.

Start recording on your phone
Before entering the kitchen, turn on the phone’s recorder and put the device in your pocket. Florian soon recognizes that you are a poor liar, but the recording still shows that you came prepared to secure a confession.
Best preparation: carry the knife and activate the recording. Skipping either action leaves the protagonist with less leverage in the kitchen scene.
Chapter ending
Finale: A Life-or-Death Standoff in the Kitchen
In the dim kitchen, the drip of a faucet cuts through the silence. Florian’s slim silhouette faces the sink as he washes dishes. Without turning, he senses your arrival and observes that you are early—the trial is not over yet.
His sharper new hairstyle makes him look even more dangerous. Florian admits that the suspicious photograph was a flaw he left deliberately. He speaks of Jose with cold contempt, then lists Kane’s and Abel’s crimes as though he alone has the right to pass judgment.
The confrontation choice
As Florian approaches with a sweet, icy smile and opens his arms for a hug, pull the cutting knife from your bag. He pauses only briefly, keeps his composure, and orders you to hand over the phone and stop the recording.
You look into eyes that seem loving and bottomless, hold the knife tight, and fight back tears. The chapter cuts off at the instant you might stab him—or hesitate.

Watch the Xanax clue
The trial says Jose took a large amount of Xanax before his death. This suggests the cause may involve medication combined with an outside force, possibly linked to Florian’s altered “emergency medication,” rather than a simple direct attack.

The protagonist jokes that a conviction may not matter because Kane and Abel are rich. Treat it as foreshadowing for later routes involving wealth and political corruption.
