Chapter 5 begins with the group recovering after Caleb's attack. The opening recorded prompt is *mumbling*, and Ask about Cain is the selected response. He can take so much more.” Giuseppe confirms that Cain should recover from the neck injury.

The route notes make an important limit explicit: Caleb is treated and left where somebody can find him. Chapter 5 does not confirm that he died. The gunshot at the end of Chapter 4 should therefore be described as the transition into this recovery scene, not as proof of a final outcome for Caleb.
