Critical Choices

Florian's verdict ending is now recorded

Florian tells the protagonist that police will raid his old office and blame José's psychologist using the schedule, pills, and poison. This is Florian's explanation of his plan, not a witnessed police raid. The protagonist selects Hot, kisses him, and forgives him; he promises not to mess up again. The Hot result shows 60%. 01

Opening crisis

Nightmare, New Home, and a Dangerous Recording

An awkward prison nightmare

The chapter opens with the protagonist visiting Abel in prison. Abel is wearing an orange jumpsuit, and the reunion becomes increasingly intimate until Cain, silently reading a newspaper in the corner, makes the entire scene painfully awkward. The protagonist wakes in a cold sweat before it can go any further.

Maya calls about the apartment

Maya says the former roommate has moved out, so the protagonist can move in at any time this week. Harper also wants to prepare a welcome dinner. Maya is nervous about the trial and admits that she and Harper want as little involvement in the case as possible.

The protagonist has still not managed to tell her father about the move.

Emily’s dangerous Paris voice memo

Emily sends the protagonist a recording from the night of the Paris party. Cain can be heard raging that he swears he will kill José because José does not care what happens to the protagonist. Abel warns, “Cain, you need to learn how to choose your battles.”

Cain asks whether he should attack José in the middle of the Louvre, and Abel answers, “Yes, sir.” The memo explains why Abel previously suspected Cain of the murder. It could also destroy both defendants in court.

The protagonist tries to ask Emily whether the message is a threat, only to discover that Emily has blocked her. In a panic, the protagonist jokes internally that she could call the recording an AI-generated fake if it ever becomes public.

02

Earlier that morning

Florian’s Prison Truce

Before the hearing, Florian visits Cain and Abel. Abel is passing the time by bouncing a ball against the cell wall, which is driving Cain mad. Florian arrives with the line, “I come in peace,” but the meeting immediately turns hostile.

No clean hands

Cain sarcastically asks whether the pills simply walked into his pocket. Florian refuses to take all the blame: he points out that he never forced Cain and Abel to hide José’s body.

A fragile ceasefire

Florian offers partial honesty as compensation and jokes that one secret is his new haircut. He does not reveal that the protagonist stabbed his hand or that he is roughly a century old. Despite their fury over being framed, Cain and Abel accept a fragile truce for the protagonist’s sake.

03

Before testimony

Breakfast and the Courthouse Confrontation

Announcing the move to Dad

Wearing a short skirt and thick tights, the protagonist heads downstairs and finds her early-rising father drinking coffee and reading the paper while Sugar Roll tries to steal a doughnut. He is covering Tom’s factory shift because Tom is in the hospital having a third nipple removed.

The protagonist finally says she plans to live with Maya and Harper. Her father worries about rent and school, but the protagonist explains that the previous tenant prepaid several months and promises to find a part-time job. He gives his support and reminds the protagonist that she can always come home.

Ned corners Florian outside court

The protagonist arrives thirty minutes early and finds Florian waiting outside. His hand is wrapped in an elegant bandage and has healed so well that the stabbing almost seems never to have happened. He confirms his visit to the prison and the truce.

Ned then brings up the 1940 photograph from the Louvre—the man in it looks exactly like Florian. He uses a strange phrase rendered as “Quantity keeper neck” and says a funeral-home call revealed Florian’s real name as Edward.

Florian shows rare anger, orders Ned to stay away, and later tells the protagonist that Ned carries an exceptionally bad and dangerous energy. The exchange strongly suggests that Ned knows more about Florian’s supernatural past than he should.

Inside the courtroom, Cain and Abel try hard to look normal in their prison uniforms. They even show the protagonist a terrible drawing made in jail whose plan for after release amounts to two things: being together and eating spaghetti.

Core walkthrough

Best Courtroom Answers

The current build shows eight question nodes during the protagonist’s testimony. The fourth is an automatic objection; the other seven accept player answers. The full option set and a stable not-guilty order are listed below.

  1. 1

What was the relationship between you and José, [Your Name]?

    “I couldn’t stand his ass.”

    • We were dating
    • We didn't know each other
    • I couldn't stand his ass
    • We were both geminis

The stable route is blunt about José. The other three answers change the courtroom reaction and continue the questioning.

  2. 2

Would you say you liked the victim?

    “I hated him.”

    • I hated him
    • Eh, the average, not much even
    • We were dating
    • I like Florian better

The stable route does not soften or hide the protagonist's dislike of José.

  3. 3

What is your relationship with Mr Cain?

    “I hate rich people.”

    • I hate rich people
    • Teacher and student
    • We were dating
    • I don't know who you're talking about

The prosecutor tries to pivot to the protagonist's academic record, but the defense objects and the judge sustains it.

  4. 4

Would you say you're a good student?

    “Automatic objection”

The lawyer objects automatically. The judge tells the prosecution to stay on topic, so there is no player answer here.

  5. 5

Do you believe Cain is capable of killing a person?

    “Impossible.”

    • Impossible
    • I guess so, like everyone, right?
    • Actually, I've already seen him kill three people...
    • Eh, the average, maybe even no

The stable route rejects the idea that Cain is capable of killing someone. The longer confession joke and the other answers continue the scene with different reactions.

  6. 6

What is your relationship with Mr Abel?

    “We're friends.”

    • We're stepsiblings
    • We were dating
    • We're friends
    • The third wheel in his homoerotic relationship with Cain

The stable route identifies the protagonist and Abel as friends.

  7. 7

Do you think Mr Conti is capable of hiding a body?

    “Impossible.”

    • He's not one to hide things, your Honor, you know.
    • Impossible
    • We were dating. Do you think I'm capable of dating a corpse-hider?
    • Yes

The stable route firmly defends Abel. The full answer set is shown here because this question was missing from the earlier summary.

  8. 8

Do you believe the defendants are guilty?

    “No.”

    • I have no doubt
    • Tell me the definition of guilty (In an insufferable tone)
    • What do you think?
    • No

Answer No to keep the stable route aligned with Emily's later evidence reversal and the not-guilty verdict.

Quick answer order: I couldn’t stand his ass → I hated him → I hate rich people → automatic objection → Impossible (Cain) → We’re friends → Impossible (hiding body) → No.

06

Recess discovery

The Stalker’s Photographs

A tall stranger drops the next major clue

During the five-minute recess, the protagonist leaves the restroom and is knocked to the floor by a tall man. He drops a large stack of papers, then bolts before the protagonist can get a clear look at him.

The papers are all secretly taken photographs of Cain and Abel. The protagonist tries to chase the man, but he vanishes into the crowd. Click the visible photos to collect the set. She keeps them, sensing that the unknown stalker may trigger the next crisis.

07

Trial climax

Emily’s Reversal

Emily takes the stand as the final witness. She appears grief-stricken and says José was the love of her life. As she performs that devotion, Florian quietly reminds the protagonist that Emily abandoned them in Paris, tried to stop Abel from speaking to them, and once called them a fat whale.

She rejects the prosecution’s case

After looking at Abel, Emily says she does not believe either defendant is guilty. When the prosecutor pushes her to confirm that the voice memo proves a murder motive, she insists the clips were edited and out of context.

The reversal destroys the prosecution’s strongest evidence. The judge sends the jury away to deliberate.

Why does Emily protect them?

The protagonist catches Emily backstage, grabs Emily’s arm, and demands an explanation. A flashback shows José telling Emily that after Paris they should leave the country and put college, the fans, the protagonist, and the entire terrible year behind them.

Emily pulls free, cries, and answers, “This is what he really wanted. I have my reasons.”Her choice can be read as an attempt to end the conflict surrounding José and honor his wish to escape it.

08

Chapter ending

The Not-Guilty Verdict

With no decisive evidence left and Emily’s testimony undermining the recording, the court declares Cain Montgomery and Abel Continot guilty. Cameras flash and the crowd erupts as their supporters cry with relief.

The victory kiss

Still handcuffed, Abel barrels through the courtroom, knocks over several chairs, lifts the protagonist, and kisses her desperately. The protagonist worries about the photographers but gives in, grabs his prison collar, and kisses him in front of every camera.

Cain rolls his eyes and asks them not to make out in front of him. When the protagonist congratulates him, Cain answers that the case was hard to ruin because he never killed the victim in the first place.

Florian gathers his things, smiles, and says, “We will see each other again.” Cain and Abel are taken away to complete their release paperwork, and the chapter closes on Abel’s brightest smile yet.

09

What comes next

Key Clues and Unsolved Mysteries

The Paris recording

Cain and Abel really did discuss attacking José in Paris. Emily saves them by discrediting the audio, but the conversation still establishes motive and explains Abel’s earlier suspicion of Cain.

The unknown stalker

Someone has been monitoring Cain and Abel closely enough to build a physical collection of candid photos. The tall stranger’s identity and goal remain open.

Edward and the 1940 photograph

Ned connects Florian to the impossible Louvre image and uncovers the old name Edward. His investigation is now dangerously close to Florian’s real history.

Ned’s strange language

Ned’s cryptic phrase and Florian’s unusually alarmed reaction imply that Ned either belongs to another supernatural circle or already understands the forces keeping Florian alive.
